SALISBURY — The Rowan County Chamber of Commerce’s first Total Resource Campaign recruited 92 new members within 30 days.
That brings total chamber membership to 842 businesses.
With more than 102 volunteers, the campaign also brought in first-year renewals and non-dues income, including sponsorships and registration fees, President Elaine Spalding said.
New members who joined during the campaign received special perks, and Mark Seifel, the campaign chairman, gave out awards and prizes for top producers at the chamber’s board meeting Monday.
“We really didn’t know what to expect with this new format,” said Seifel, who also serves as chairman-elect for the board. “The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, and we had outstanding support from businesses and community partners on the new approach.”
The top producer announced was Martha Bostian of MedExpress Pharmacy, who won a vacation package valued at more than $2,500. She was also the top producing team captain, and her team consisted of Jeff Jones of Food Lion, Donna Barnes of Park Sterling Bank, Jessica Swanson of SCS Inc., Sherry Wilson of CMC-NE, Dianne Greene of Century 21 Towne & Country, Millie Cress of First Bank, Laurie Shuping of Shuping Travel, Joan Palmer of Palmer Promotions, Kyna Grubb of Rowan Helping Ministries, Linda Mullis of Community One Bank, Starling Johnson of Johnson Concrete and Dale Wagstaff and Kathy Tolf of Refining Minds
The second place top performer was Dave McCoy of McCoy & Hillard, and third place went to Rebecca Jones of Jones Realty. Each won a regional vacation package.
