West Rowan’s teams competed in the Eye Opener Meet in Spartanburg, S.C., on Saturday.
West’s boys finished 11th out of 41 teams. Jordan Bostian (18:41) led the Falcons. He was 50th. Next were Cameron Butler (18:54), Wade Laing (19:03), Joseph Ward (19:16), Cade Harrill (19:45), Dagan Williams (19:51), Noah Teeter (20:18) and Jessie Regrut.
• West’s girls finished 14th in the Eye Opener out of 39 teams.
Rebecca Parker led the Falcons. She was eighth in 20:35. Josie Heglar (22:41) was 49th. Next were Hannah Allison (23:24), Kelly Jankowski (24:51), Emily Goddard, Meghan Sloop and Kayla Blackburn.

Dean Harwood made a hole-in-one Saturday on the 156-yard No. 2 hole at Corbin Hills.
Harwood used a 7-iron. Witnessing the feat were Rick Harwood, Eddie Harwood and Drew Harwood.
•Salisbury sophomore Christopher Queen played in the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Golden Bear Junior Challenge held in Hilton Head, S.C.
Queen competed in the 11-14 age group and shot 78-83 — 161. He tied for ninth at 11-over par.
• The McCanless Couples played a Texas Scramble on Sunday.
The winning team was David Huneycutt, Frank Foster and Gene and Mary Seaford.
The second-place team was Walt and Kim Kincaid, Phyllis Myers and Harry Owens.
Gene Seaford won closest to the pin, while Mary Seaford won longest putt.
The Kannapolis-based Carolina Thundering Herd is off to a 3-0 start in the United National Football League and is ranked No. 1 in the league poll.
The Herd includes former prep standouts such as A.L. Brown’s Brandon Franklin, Quantres Grant and Quincy Kennedy, Salisbury’s Harry Howard and North Rowan’s Brandon Ford, Bobby Lee and O’Bryan Graham.
Livingstone lost 3-2 to Florida Memorial and 3-0 to Johnson & Wales on the second day of Livingstone Invitational depite 22 kills by Shadella Smith. Carrie Blunt had 17 kills in the match with Florida Memorial.
On the opening day of the tournament, Livingstone won 3-0 against Morris and 3-1 against Edward Waters.
The Green Dragons socce team won regional matches by 5-2 and 10-5 over the weekend.
Ben Childress scored five goals. Maddox Goodnight had four, Wade Robins had two, and Oscar Garcia, Colin Donaldson, Ben Sweet and Hank Webb had one each.
Will Webb, Will Koontz and Bennett Clark were other standouts for the Green Dragons (5-1).
