Few details in overnight shooting, more expected later today

Police say they have few new details about a Tuesday night shooting in which one man was shot in the back.

The shooting occurred close to 10 p.m. Tuesday near North Shaver and East Cemetery streets. Salisbury police are expected to have more details later today.

The victim, Desjuan Clawson, 22, of Andrew Street, was shot once as he and another man were running from a vehicle. The vehicle is described as a white or gray four-door Chevrolet, possibly an Impala.

Clawson told detectives there were three shots fired from the vehicle. The shooter, who Clawson said was in the front passenger side of the vehicle, appeared to be a light- to medium-skinned black man or biracial.

It is unclear if the incident occurred at the intersection of North Shaver and East Cemetery streets, but Clawson was found lying in the 500 block of East Cemetery Street. He told police he and the other man were sitting on a stone wall.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
