A Woodleaf man who was previously convicted of molesting a young girl in the late 1980s was charged Thursday with sex offenses against another young girl who says the offenses occurred in 2011 when she was 12 years old.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Anthony William Powers, 53, of the 800 block of Needmore Road, with two counts felony indecent liberties with children. Both victims were known to Powers, who was convicted in 1988 in Florida, prior to the sex offender registry, Sheriff’s officials said. The most recent victim is now 15 years old. Powers has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond.
