Cooper’s, The Gathering Place, has a new menu and new chef, John Zoet.
Zoet is from Salisbury and is a Johnson and Wales graduate. He spent four years at the Old Post in Missoula, Mont., as kitchen manager and worked several years as sous chef at Luis Benton Steakhouse in Grand Rapids, Mich.
He served as executive chef at Olives Restaurant & Bar in Grand Rapids, as well.
Since his return to Salisbury, he has been part of kitchen operations at the Country Club of Salisbury the past six years.
“While we are known for our delicious burgers, we feel that after two years it’s time to introduce some new and not-so-familiar menu items,” says owner, Joseph Cataldo.
New items include:

• Mahi Mango Tango pan seared on a bed of fresh spinach, topped with mango and orange ginger dressing.
* open-faced shaved prime-rib sandwich.
*watermelon pizza, topped with grilled chicken, basil, port reduction, pistachios, goat cheese.
Also new at Cooper’s, extended hours: Tuesday-Thursday (Wednesdays are now on the weekday menu), 5-9 p.m. for dinner. 5-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday for dinner.
The bar is open until the crowd says it’s time to call it a night. Cooper’s is a full-service restaurant that welcomes large parties and groups. A full catering menu is also available. Visit Coopersofsalisbury.com. Follow on Facebook. Or call 704-795-4907.
