RALEIGH (AP) — The North Carolina Senate plans more work on taxes, abortion regulations and environmental rules before it adjourns for the long July 4 weekend.
Senators scheduled a floor session Wednesday morning for final chamber votes on several pieces of legislation, many of which took up their time Tuesday.
Social conservatives Tuesday pushed through a Senate committee and one floor vote legislation that would place additional controls on abortion procedures. Supporters say the bill will promote safety, but critics say it attempts to reduce abortion access and could close clinics.
The Senate also wants to complete passage of its latest version of a tax overhaul package and send it to the House.
Another bill restricts the disclosure of the recipe for fluid used by companies that participate in hydraulic fracturing.
