Playoffs will start Tuesday

The American Legion playoffs begin Tuesday.
Rowan County will be at home against Concord at 7 p.m., while Southern Rowan hosts Stanly County at 7 p.m.
These are best-of-five series, with teams alternating home games.
• Southern Rowan reliever Austin Bracewell (fractured skull) was released from the hospital.
He was kept overnight on Saturday for observation. Bracewell was injured when he was struck by a bat.
•Rowan County’s Chance Bowden won the All-Star Game Home Run Derby on Saturday night.
Southern Rowan’s Dylan Goodman drove in two runs in the Southern Division’s 8-5 victory.

Kannapolis beat the Mooresville Legends 3-2 on Sunday. Logan Wagner pitched a complete game and had two hits.

The Kannapolis Intimidators were held to two hits and lost 3-0 to the Greenville Drive on Sunday.
Greenville’s Luis Diaz was perfect for five innings and retired 21 of 23 hitters in seven shutout innings.
Eric Grabe had both hits for Kannapolis.

Northwest Arkansas’ Whit Merrifield (Davie) had three hits Thursday and three more Friday and drove in six runs in those two Double A games. Merrifield had two doubles Friday. The hot streak lifted his batting average to .233.
• Justin Seager (NW Cabarrus) is off to a great start in pro ball.
Seager is batting .368 in his first 10 games with Everett, Wash. He had three hits and two RBIs on Sunday.
• Jordan Jankowski (Catawba) has a 3-1 record and a 2.90 ERA for Quad Cities in Class A ball.

Jason Ridenhour (North Rowan) has made three starts for the Evansville Otters in the Frontier League. Ridenhour (0-1) has a 3.20 ERA and 15 strikeouts.

Noah Holmes (East Rowan) went 2-for-2 in the Alaska Baseball League on Thursdsay.
