Kannapolis falls to Concord

Kannapolis lost to Concord 6-4 in 11 innings in a Southeast Division game in the Southern Division of Area III on Monday.
Concord won its first divisional game, while Kannapolis remained winless. The fifth-place team in the division won’t make the playoffs. Rowan (5-0), Stanly (3-1) and Southern Rowan (3-2) hold down the top three spots in the division.
Kannapolis lost despite four hits by Ryan Austin. Luke Pepper and Austin Mace had two hits each. Pepper drove in three runs. Kannapolis had 12 hits.
Josh Chapman homered for Concord.
Justin Dixon pitched six innings for Kannapolis.
Kannapolis led early and also led 4-3 going to the ninth, but Concord was able to force extra innings.
• Kannapolis will play at Southern Rowan tonight in a makeup game of a rainout in Kannapolis. Kannapolis will be the home team on the scoreboard.
• Rowan is at Mocksville tonight for a makeup game outside the division.
• In other contests on Monday, the Mooresville Moors beat Mocksville 13-8 to wrap up the Southwest Division race.
Wilkes County prevailed 13-5 against the Mooresville Legends for its first win.
Eastern Randolph won 8-6 against Randolph in 10 innings, and Winston-Salem won 10-8 against Western Forsyth.

Rowan County beat South Iredell 14-1 on Sunday. Harrison Smith was the winning pitcher.
Rowan beat West Rowan 8-0 on Monday with Joseph Peeler getting the win.
Dustin Ritchie went 3-for-4 for Rowan.
Rowan will be at home again tonight.

Kannapolis won 6-3 at Rome on Monday in South Atlantic League action.
Micah Johnson had three hits and scored two runs. Jason Coats drove in two runs.
