Civic Park Apartments the scene of altercation

A man was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being shot three times at the Civic Park Apartments on Hall Street.
Authorities were still investigating the shooting Wednesday evening and had not made an arrest, but they were interviewing someone that Salisbury Police Capt. Shelia Lingle called a person of interest.
Willie R. Williams was shot in the abdomen, arm and elbow, Lingle said.
Williams was initially taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening. A short time later, he was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Wake Forest hospital staff did not have a listing for him Wednesday evening.
Investigators say the shooting happened after an altercation in front of the apartment escalated.
After being shot, Lingle said, Williams went to McLaughlin’s Grocery on West Monroe Street for help.
One neighbor, who did not want her name used, said she heard arguing before the shooting. She told a Post reporter she heard three or four gunshots.
Bystanders were blocked from going near an apartment unit where neighbors say the incident happened. Police put up crime-scene tape around the front of the apartments and searched the area.
Quiniva Phillips said she didn’t see anything, but she heard gunshots. She, like many in the complex, was sitting outside as police put up crime scene tape.
James Osborne, who was also sitting outside, said he heard the gunshots and told the Post this type of violence happens often.
