THOMASVILLE — Brian Bauk had the game of his life for the Rowan Legion baseball team Thursday.
Bauk drove in six runs and hit for the cycle with two home runs as Rowan rallied from a 7-0 deficit in a 12-11 win in 10 innings at Finch Field.
After playing the first 10 innings in centerfield, Bauk iced the game on the mound by retiring three straight HP batters with the tying run at third in the Hi-Toms’ first loss.
Rowan improved to 5-2 despite six errors. Justin Evans picked up his first win on the mound with Bauk getting the save.
After an Ashton Fleming leadoff single in the 10th, Bauk homered over the right-field wall for his second blast of the game.
In the bottom of the 10th, HP’s Zach McClain doubled home a run with no one out. McClain went to third on a passed ball. Bauk got a pair of groundouts and struck out Hayden Manuel to end the game.
Harrison Baucom extended the game with a 2-RBI single in the ninth with Rowan down to its last out. High Point had taken a 10-8 lead in the bottom of the eighth after a pair of infield errors from Rowan.
Bauk reached the cycle by tying the game at 8 in the eighth with the team’s first home run of the season.
Hunter Brooks got a leadoff double in the fourth and went to third on Justin Evans’ single. Chase Hathcock grounded into a 1-6-3 double play that scored Brooks to put Rowan on the board.
Rowan then got a four-run fifth as Bauk hit a 2-RBI double with the bases loaded to make it 7-3. Rowan banked on an outfield error and Fleming scored on a wild pitch. Brooks drove in Bauk with a single to make it 7-5.
In the sixth, Bauk collided with HP first baseman Nick Blackwood beating out an RBI single. Taylor Garczynski had a sac fly to score Riley Myers in the eighth before Bauk’s blast.
Rowan takes on Western Forsyth tonight on the road.
