The team of Phyllis Durland and Kristi Laton won the 32nd annual, two-day Edgar Welch Memorial Golf Tournament played at Corbin Hills and the Country Club of Salisbury.
The team of Susan Morris and Mechelle Kuld won second low net. Cindy Carmazzi and Kathy Carlton won third low net.
The team of Mary Seaford and Treyva Honeycutt won low gross. Beth Calhoun and Pat Moore won second low gross.

Rowan County’s game at Eastern Randolph was canceled on Thursday due to wet grounds in Ramseur.
It will not be made up.

Randolph-Stanly also was washed out Thursday.
Kernersville beat the Mooresville Moors 6-3. High Point rolled over Western Forsyth 10-0.
Rowan is off tonight.

Southern Rowan is at Concord, while the Moorsville Moors are at Kannapolis.

Some of the best-of-three regional championship series got under way on Thursday.
In 2A, West Stanly (25-4) beat Canton Pisgah 3-1 in the Western opener.
In 3A, Robinson (27-2) won 5-2 in Concord against Enka.
In 4A, Alexander Central (30-1) crushed Southeast Guilford 10-0 in five innings.

Regional series got under way on Thursday.
In the 1A Western championship series, South Stanly lost 6-1 at Hendersonville (21-5)
In the 2A Western championship series, Piedmont (27-2) topped Sylva Smoky Mountain 7-3. In 4A, South Meck (24-6) beat T.C. Roberson 4-1 in the opener.
In 3A, the Western championship series, Weddington (21-9) vs. Hickory (17-10), get started tonight in Hickory.
The Kannapolis Junior Legion team won 11-0 against West Rowan on Thursday.
Nathan Watson pitched a four-hitter for Kannapolis. Kameron Sherrill had three hits. Logan Wagner and Ryan Disher had two hits each.
Kannapolis (3-1) is at Rowan on Monday at 7.
• South Rowan’s Junior Legion won 7-6 against Concord. Blake Johnson was the winning pitcher. Heath Barringer picked up the save.
South plays against Lake Norman at home on Saturday at 7 p.m.
On Monday, the South Junior team plays Mocksville at 4 p.m. at home, prior to the Southern Rowan-Winston-Salem Legion game at 7. Armed Forces veterans will be admitted free to the Memorial Day doubleheader.
• Rowan’s Juniors are at home tonight.

Appalachian State won 2-1 against Samford in the Southern Conference tournament on Thursday. Preston Troutman (East Rowan) went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Noah Holmes (East) was 1-for-4.

The Kannapolis Intimidators lost a wild one at Hickory on Thursday.
Kannapolis scored four runs in the top of the 12th, only to see the Crawdads get five in the bottom half of the inning to win 7-6. The Intimidators had 14 hits, but 13 were singles.

In the Willow Creek Open in High Point, Frank Adams III shot a second-round 65 and is at 4-under after two rounds.

Tyler Green won the weather-shortened Legends All-Star Race Thursday at Charlotte. Motor Speedway, leading all 31 laps of the caution-filled contest to win $2,500.
