This week’s Athlete of the Week is East Rowan baseball player Connor Johnson. In the Mustangs’ most important week of the season, they turned to their most important player.

In a 2-1 victory in eight innings over North Iredell, Johnson pitched a complete game, striking out nine, including the side in the fifth, improving his record to 5-3.

In a 5-1 win over South Rowan, Johnson had a triple and an RBI on a bases-loaded walk. He also picked up his second save by shutting out the Raiders in the sixth and seventh innings. Entering this week, East was in second place in the North Piedmont Conference.
