Ramps and roads closing in Cabarrus for construction

The N.C. Department of Transportation will be closing the ramp from N.C. 73 to I-85 North in Concord at 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, weather permitting. The closure is part of the 6.8-mile I-85 widening project, improving I-85 from four to eight lanes from south of Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) to north of N.C. 73 (Exit 55).
Contractor Lane Construction has to close the ramp to tie it in with a new section of N.C. 73. The ramp will reopen to traffic by 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday mornings.
A separate closure is scheduled on the entrance ramp from George Liles Parkway to I-85 North at 2 a.m. Thursday morning while crews complete installing 300 feet of barrier. The closure should last about an hour.
• The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of Dutch Road in Mount Pleasant at 9 a.m. Monday, March 11, weather permitting. Contractor J.T. Russell and Sons will start a $488,000 project to replace the bridge over Little Bear Creek.
Traffic will be detoured around the project from Dutch Road to Lentz Harness Shop Road to Bear Creek Church Road to Finger Road to Gold Hill Road back to Dutch Road.
The contractor should have the bridge open to traffic June 1, and can continue vegetation and reforestation work through Nov. 28.
• The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of Troutman Road in Midland at 9 a.m. Monday, March 11, weather permitting. Contractor J.T. Russell and Sons will start a $384,500 project to replace the bridge over a branch of Muddy Creek.
A detour will be posted for motorists from Troutman Road to Jim Sossoman Road to U.S. 601 to Cal Bost Road back to Troutman Road. The bridge replacement is scheduled to be completed June 1, and the contractor can continue vegetation and reforestation work through Nov. 28.
