Local DAV chapter honors the sacrifices of veterans
There are several fine veterans organizations in Rowan County, each honoring those who serve. One of the newest Disabled American Veterans (DAV) chapters in the state is located here, with 109 members and looking for more.
The goal of any DAV is to provide free information concerning benefits, outreach programs, family unity and recognizing a veteran’s service. Members enjoy many benefits and also have access to Ford’s X Plan Partner Recognition Program, where specially equipped vehicles may qualify for up to $1,200 reimbursement. The DAV has one of the strongest lobbying groups in Washington, with 1.2 million members. Each chapter is important to keep this strength to fight for disabled veterans’ rights. That is why if you have not joined a veterans group, your membership is welcome. Any man or woman who has any disability rating is eligible to join. Rowan DAV Chapter 96 meets the third Monday of each month at the W.G. Hefner VA, Building 42 Town Hall, at 7 p.m.
