HUNTERSVILLE (AP) — Authorities in Huntersville have arrested a man following the death of his 7-week-old son and injuries to the boy’s twin sister.
WCNC-TV in Charlotte reports that 25-year-old Cory Allen Geisler was charged Wednesday with child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury for the boy’s death.
Huntersville police went to Geisler’s home last Thursday regarding an unresponsive infant and pronounced the boy dead shortly after their arrival. The next day, police responded to a pediatrician’s office after reports of injuries to the dead boy’s sister. Officials determined that the girl had been abused and later determined that boy had been as well.
Geisler is being held in the Mecklenburg County jail under $30,000 bond.
Great white shark hanging out near NC coast again
HATTERAS (AP) — A 16-foot great white shark named Mary Lee is among those who like calling North Carolina home.
The Ocearch Shark Tracker has kept track of the 3,500-pound Mary Lee since she was tagged in September off the coast of Cape Cod, Mass. On Wednesday, she was off the Outer Banks.
So far, she has traveled up and down the East Coast, including Florida, where she came within 200 yards of Jacksonville Beach a couple of weeks ago. In December, she entered the mouth of the Cape Fear River in southeastern North Carolina before traveling south.
