SALISBURY — Two teenagers were taken into custody after authorities said they tried to rob a man at an ATM on West Innes Street Wednesday.
Salisbury Police said the robbery victim noticed a figure close to a nearby wood line at the Wells Fargo about 5 p.m.
When the customer inserted his bank card, the man approached him and asked if he had change for a $20.
The suspect then pulled a pistol from his waistband and demanded “all that’s in there,” a police report said. The customer refused and quickly turned to a set of nearby double doors and called for help.
The gunman fled and jumped into a vehicle.
Officers stopped the car a few blocks away and arrested the driver and passenger, who they identified as the gunman.
The driver, Dajion Daryl Brathwaite, 19, of Bailey, and Akin Kemon Robinson, 18, of Crescent Road in Rockwell, were both taken into custody.
They were each charged with felony attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
