SALISBURY – Team Chevrolet is hosting a safety event Saturday at the South Jake Alexander Boulevard dealership.
The event is open to the public and is from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 404 South Jake Alexander Boulevard.
The event promises to be fun and informative.
A texting test track will be set up for drivers to experience the dangers of texting and driving, and afterward the drivers will be shown the safety features of OnStar services.
Representatives from the North Carolina Farm Bureau office in Salisbury will also be on hand to answer questions anyone may have about car insurance. Representatives will offer insurance quotes for first-time drivers to experienced drivers.
The Salisbury Fire Department will provide free car seat checks and will properly install those that are not in compliance with state and federal laws. There will also be a fire truck on display for children and adults to explore.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and Explorers will give away brochures, badges, and a chance to shake hands with McGruff, the Crime Fighting Dog. The Sheriff’s Office will also have the Safe Kid’s fingerprinting program available.
Children can bounce around on a large inflatable or get their face painted. All activities are free.
While at the event, if you get hungry, grab a hot dog from Hap’s on Wheels or a Sun Drop from the soda fountain. Hap’s hot dogs will be $1, drinks, $0.50.
