Stokes Ferry man arrested in armed robbery

GRANITE QUARRY – Authorities arrested a Stokes Ferry Road man accused of robbing a Dollar General Store earlier this week.
William Dale Berns, 60, was taken into custody and charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and larceny of a pit bull.
Berns remained in Rowan County jail under a $52,500 bond.
According to a traffic on the emergency services scanner, the suspect robbed a Dollar General on Granite Street around 8 p.m. Sunday.
He was described as a white male with black or blue face paint, wearing dark jeans and a hat and holding a handgun.
