SALISBURY — This year’s BB&T Sunset Run will offer a wide range of opportunities for participants to become big givers and have fun at the same time.
This is the third year for the 5K race, which will be Sept. 7 in Salisbury. The event will begin at 8 p.m. on East Fisher Street near its intersection with South Lee Street. The Kids Fun Run, which is a half mile race, begins at 7:30 p.m.
The race coincides with Downtown Friday Night Out and is in conjunction with the Rowan County United Way’s campaign launch. Organizers hope to donate at least $10,000 to the United Way this year.
The Rowan County elementary, middle or high school with the highest number of runners or walkers will win a $500 cash prize for the school.
Each school must gather names of participants before Aug. 31, when pre-registration ends. All names should be turned in as a group with a minimum of 25 runners on the team to qualify.
The early registration fee for the race is $25. Race-day registration costs $30. Registration for children 12 and younger is $10 prior to the race and on race day.
Early registration will be accepted through Aug. 31 online at www.sportoften.com and via mail with an entry form to Rowan United Way, 1930 Jake Alexander Blvd. W, Suite B, Salisbury, NC 28147-1186.
