Help sought in Saturday night hit and run
The Highway Patrol is looking for a person of interest who was involved in a hit and run that happened Saturday night on North Enochville Avenue.
Trooper D.H. Deal reported being called to the area about 5 p.m. Saturday. The hit-and-run collision involved a light blue Mercury Grand Marquis and what appeared to be a small, black Chevrolet convertible.
The Mercury was traveling north on Enochville Avenue and had stopped to turn left into the parking lot at Westside store. The black car crossed the center line and collided with the Mercury.
Both drivers pulled into the parking lot. Witnesses on scene and the female operating the Mercury Grand Marquis described the driver of the black car as a white male in his 40s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with a salt and pepper goatee and shorts. He also had a dog with him. The driver got out of his car, went in the store and bought a pack of gum. After leaving the store, he returned to his vehicle and left the scene traveling North on North Enochville Avenue.
The woman driving the Grand Marquis had her 17- month-old daughter with her.
If anyone has any information, they can contact Trooper D.H. Deal at 704-639-7574. There were no injuries in the collision, but property damage is in excess of $1,000 to the victim.
The small black convertible should have significant damage to the front end.
