MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a teen has been taken to the hospital after suffering some kind of bite while swimming in the ocean.
Myrtle Beach police say the 16-year-old boy was in waist-deep water around noon Tuesday when he was hurt. Witnesses say the injuries appeared minor and he was loaded into an ambulance with bandages on his foot.
Authorities say pictures of the wound will be sent to experts at the University of Florida to determine if they are from a shark bite. The experts are already reviewing bites from four other people injured in a 10-minute span while swimming off Myrtle Beach on Thursday.
The beach where the multiple bites happened was closed for about two hours. The beach where Tuesday’s bite happened was not closed.
