Lights of Love, a luminaria display sponsored by the Humane Society of Rowan County, will be held Friday around the City Lake in Salisbury. This event is held annually in celebration of Be Kind to Animals Week, a time set aside to commemorate the role animals play in our lives and to encourage the humane treatment of them.
Luminaria may be purchased in honor or in memory of loved ones, two- or four-legged, for a donation of $3 per luminary. One hundred percent of proceeds will be used for veterinary care of sick or injured stray and abandoned animals.
Orders may be mailed to the HSRC, PO Box 295, Salisbury, NC 28145-0295 and must be postmarked by Tuesday. Orders may also be called to 704-636-5700, option 9, or e-mailed to humanesocietyofrowancounty@windstream.net. In addition, luminaria may be purchased at the City Lake during the event.
Lights of Love will shine around the lake on Club Drive and Annandale Avenue from dusk until 9:30 p.m. Those who would like to donate food to the HSRC’s food bank for families in need of assistance may drop off dog and cat food and cat litter at the table on Annandale.
