Rowan Helping Ministries celebrates 25 years

Rowan Helping Ministries celebrated 25 years of serving the Rowan County community with One Big Party held at the Country Club of Salisbury on April 28. Over 220 people attended this birthday-themed party, which raised $60,000 for continuing operations of Rowan Helping Ministries through sponsors, tickets sales, a raffle for a cruise for two, opportunities to fund specific needs and the sale of bird houses designed by Brian Howell and decorated by participants in Rowan Helping Ministries New Tomorrows program.
Steve Drinkard, board chair thanked guests and spoke briefly about the history of the ministry and plans for the future including the construction of a new facility.
Food Lion, LLC, the presenting sponsor the event made a surprise birthday presentation. Robert Canipe, CFO of Delhaize America, announced that Food Lion would make a special gift of $25,000 to RHM’s expansion project.
The event committee was made up of Tina Acree, Gwin Barr, Kari Hippert, Susan Smith, Tracy Smith, and Eunice Steimke.
Rowan Helping Ministries provides crisis assistance, shelter services, a soup kitchen, transitional housing and education to help people move to self sufficiency.
