SALISBURY — Police are investigating an apparent shootout near a home on East Fisher Street this morning.
According to a Salisbury Police report, a gunman shot through the front door of a home in the 500 block at 4:19 a.m.
No one inside the home was injured.
Barbara Hopkins was inside the home at the time and told officers her son woke her up after the shooting.
She saw a bullet hole in the front door and shattered glass where her screen door used to be.
The report said Hopkins’ daughter and her daughter’s ex-boyfriend had been arguing prior to the shooting.
Hopkins’ sons left before officers arrived, “to go looking for” the shooter, the report said.
During the investigation, officers found Hopkins’ daughter’s car, which was being used by her ex-boyfriend nearby.
The report said the green Mercury Cougar had bullet holes and had been crashed.
No one was found at the scene.
Investigators removed a 9 mm casing from the living room wall inside the home. Police said the bullet went through the front door and then through the television, before hitting the wall.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
