KANNAPOLIS — Two people believed to be responsible for a robbery and assault this week on Old Beatty Ford Road were arrested Thursday.
Danny Roland Green Jr., of Irish Potato Road, Kannapolis, and Jamie Elizabeth Overcash, of Speedway Place, Concord, were arrested by Kannapolis Police during a burglary on Lane Street.
Officers said they found 28-year-old Overcash sitting in a burgundy Dodge Dakota in the driveway. As police searched the home, they found 33-year-old Green hiding in a closet.
Authorities found a small amount of marijuana, according to a press release, and several items believed to be stolen.
Investigators from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office interviewed the couple at the Cabarrus County jail.
A Rowan County detective told the Post that some items found with the couple were from the Old Beatty Ford Road residence ransacked Wednesday.
During that break-in, Christopher Lambert, who lives beside his parents, confronted the two suspects, an incident report said.
The two were carrying out property and attempted to flee when Lambert approached. A male suspect assaulted Lambert before the two left, the report said.
An incident report said property worth more than $8,000 was taken from the home.
Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Capt. John Sifford said Green and Overcash have been charged in the Old Beatty Ford road incident. They’re being charged with felony robbery and felony breaking and entering.
Authorities believe the duo were involved in a number of other break-ins in the eastern part of Rowan County and several others in Rockwell.
Investigators are working with the Kannapolis and Rockwell police departments to track stolen property.
Green was placed in Cabarrus County jail Thursday under a $10,000 bond. Overcash was given a $5,000 bond.
Their updated bonds were not available Friday.
