It’s the first snow of the year in Salisbury and it’s likely to not stick around.
In Salisbury and throughout Rowan County residents saw snow begin to fall shortly before dusk.
“There are periods of light snow likely to continue for next several hours,” said Meteorologist Bryan McAvoy of the National Weather Service.
There will be few periods of light snow with a dusting around an inch, McAvoy said Sunday afternoon.
Snow began to fall lightly around 6 p.m. with bigger flakes hitting the roads as the hour passed.
As the week progresses, McAvoy said the weather is expected to be warmer.
Traffic collisions were reported throughout the county. Officials were responding to wrecks and were unavailable for comment.
