KANNAPOLIS — Police have arrested both the principal and a teacher from Concord Lake Academy following an investigation into complaints involving inappropriate relationships with a student and covering up the crime.
On Oct. 4, the Kannapolis Police Department received a complaint regarding the principal of the Concord Lake STEAM Academy, Kendra Brown Woods, for failing to report a crime.
Following an investigation into that complaint, police have charged Woods, 42, of Charlotte, with one count of failure to report abuse and one count of failure to report crimes against juveniles. Woods was taken into custody and transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail.
Additional investigation into the crime Woods failed to report also led to the arrest of a teacher at the school, Tyler Christian Woods, 23, of Kannapolis, who has been arrested for having inappropriate encounters with a student.
Woods has charged with three counts of indecent liberties with a child, one count of disseminate obscenity to a minor and one count of permitting a minor to assist in obscenity. He was transported to the Cabarrus County Jail and received a $100,000 bond.
Though they have the same last name, the two are not related, according to officials.
