SALISBURY — Police are still searching for a gunman who attempted to rob a man while he was cleaning the parking lot at the Westland Shopping Center on Jake Alexander Boulevard.
The robber walked up to the 66-year-old just after midnight this morning and asked him if he needed help cleaning the parking lot, a Salisbury Police report said.
When the man turned around to decline, officers said, the younger man pulled out a black handgun and demanded his wallet.
The 66-year-old turned to run away and the gunman fled to a nearby car.
Officers said the robber was a black male in his 20s, between 6 feet and 6-foot-2. Nothing was taken during the attempted robbery.
The man was described as wearing a black hoodie, with a light beard, between 200 and 230 pounds.
He fled in a dark-colored, four-door 1990s model car. The vehicle was last seen traveling toward Statesville Boulevard.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
