Clarification
The historic house at 402 S. Fulton St. is for lease but not for sale, owner Dr. Gerred Popejoy said. The house in the middle of a dispute between Popejoy and former tenant Cynthia Cole Jenkins, past executive director for Historic Salisbury Foundation.
An engineer who inspected the house in June and found mold and standing water advised Jenkins and her husband, if they were sensitive to the conditions, to relocate during the cleanup. Popejoyís maintenance man found and fixed a clogged air-conditioning drain that had caused the water and mold, Popejoy said.
