SALISBURY ó Residents near the intersection of Sherrills Ford and Briggs roads are invited to a public meeting Monday to express their opinions about a traffic circle there.
N.C. Rep. Harry Warren is holding the meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the commissionersí meeting room at 130 W. Innes St. in Salisbury.
The N.C. Department of Transportation has proposed construction of a roundabout, or traffic circle, at the Sherrills Ford Road and Briggs Road intersection because of the number and severity of crashes there. It would be the first in Rowan County.
The transportation department has said that according to federal law, the intersectionís traffic volume doesnít warrant a stop light. A temporary caution light was put up in March.
