On Friday, November 4, Cauble Creek Vineyard opened its first Artist Invitational. Co-owner Anita Yost says the business hopes to make the show an annual event showcasing area artists.
Twenty-one local artists participated, and a variety of artistic mediums are represented.
“I’m very honored to be in the company of such amazing artists that I’ve long admired,” said artist Adele Goodman. “The pieces are incredible and very diverse.”
The theme was vineyards and wine. Each artist created one work as a part of this theme and could submit a total of three works, which are offered for sale. Visitors to the winery will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite piece of artwork that is wine-themed. In addition, many of the artists created miniature pieces that are featured in the tasting room of the Winery.
Local potter Brent Smith visited Cauble Creek Vineyard in the late summer to dig up clay from the pond at Cauble Creek Vineyard. This clay was then used to create his two pieces, “Covered Jar” and “Wine Bottle.”
Plein Air artist Rachel Lee of Woodleaf visited the vineyard one morning to paint. Her painting features a beautiful view of the vines in the morning.
“Cauble Creek Vineyards has been enormously generous in allowing the artists to paint on their properties and highlighting local artists’ works. The current show is impressive!” said participating artist Phyllis Steimel.
On Sunday, Cauble Creek Vineyard hosted a reception honoring the artists and their works. Over 200 individuals visited the winery to support the artists and their works.
A portion of the sales proceeds during the final week of the show, November 18-20, will go towards The LandTrust for Central North, a local nonprofit dedicated to protecting and preserving property throughout Central North Carolina.
The winery and exhibit is open with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on Sun days from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Cauble Creek Vineyard is located at 700 Cauble Farm Road, off of Highway 150 in Salisbury, North Carolina. It is the 100th winery in North Carolina
