Scott Young, head football coach of the West Rowan Falcons, is at Rowan Regional Medical Center today after suffering a heart attack last night.
Young told Salisbury Post sports editor Ronnie Gallagher that he felt some chest pains and thought something was wrong yesterday evening. He said he took two aspirin and then drove himself to the hospital.
Doctors subsequently told Young that one of his arteries was 100 percent blocked.
Young had two stents put in his heart, and doctors expect him to fully recover.
Young said that he doesn’t know whether he’ll make it to Friday night’s game against West Iredell where the Falcons are set to clinch their eighth straight NCP Championship, but if he does he’ll be watching from the press box.
