Man assaulted, robbed on South Clay Street

A 55-year-old Salisbury man was assaulted and robbed Monday evening on South Clay Street.
According to Salisbury Police, the man told police that three to four males jumped him from behind as he was walking home from the store about 7:45 p.m.
The report said the attack may have been in retaliation to a fight from several months ago.
The suspects took a wallet, cell phone, book bag and credit card from the man, the report said. The book bag and credit card were recovered by officers in a nearby area.
The attack came as the man walked back from a store in the 700 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. He was jumped in the 800 block of South Clay Street.
The man was taken by ambulance to Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Police are still investigating the strong armed robbery.
