Drake column: Vet to speak about unwanted horses

Rowan County Cooperative Extension and the East Equine Explorers 4-H Club would like to invite anyone interested in learning more about the unwanted horse to a special dinner meeting at 6 p.m. on Nov. 3. The meeting will be held at the Agricultural Center, 2727 Old Concord Road, Salisbury. Dr. Wynne A. DiGrassie will give our after dinner presentation on ěThe Unwanted Horse.î
Dr. DiGrassie is a volunteer speaker for the Unwanted Horse Coalition, as well as a full time equine veterinarian. The Unwanted Horse Coalition was formed to raise awareness of the plight of the unwanted horse and the coalition strives to educate the horse industry to ěOwn Responsibly.î
DiGrassie and her husband founded Mountain View Equine Hospital in northern Virginia in 2003. She grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and completed her DVM from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She holds an advanced degree in reproduction and neonatal medicine. Dr. DiGrassie enjoys the outdoors and also competing in hunter/jumper events and dressage.
