Deputies stop woman driving lawn mower
SALISBURY — Deputies reported finding an 18-year-old woman driving a lawn mower after drinking alcohol on St. Matthews Church Road.
According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report, Deputy C. Earnhardt stopped Amie Linthicum at about 10 p.m. Thursday when he came upon the lawn mower, which was being driven on the road without lights.
While the deputy spoke to Linthicum, a neighbor walked out to the scene and told the officer the lawn mower was his and had been taken without permission, but he declined to press charges, the report said.
Earnhardt reported that Linthicum, 4485 Goodman Lake Road, had an odor of alcohol and blew a .04 blood-alcohol level.
She was charged with misdemeanor driving with a provisional license after consuming and released on a written promise to appear in court.
Even though her blood-alcohol level did not meet the .08 threshold for a DWI charge, the deputy’s report said Linthicum seemed impaired when performing sobriety tests.
