RICHFIELD — Deputies found oxycodone and marijuana on Thursday after a woman told authorities that her 50-year-old daughter was “intoxicated and being verbally abusive.”
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy M.M. Causey responded to the call at 3170 River Road about a disturbance and reportedly found Dianne Mills Walter lying in the back seat of her gold Ford Explorer, searching through a rear compartment.
After knocking on the glass twice, the woman opened the door to the vehicle, the report said. The deputy searched Walter for weapons but didn’t find any.
According to the report, Walter wanted to go to her father’s house, which was nearby, but was too intoxicated to drive.
The deputy got permission from Walter’s father, but told Walter he would have to search her again before taking her in his patrol car.
The woman declined to be searched the second time, but after Earnhardt told her it was departmental policy to search her, she handed the officer her purse.
The purse contained a pill bottle with six oxycodone pills. Authorities also found a black smoker’s pouch with two marijuana cigarettes inside.
Walter was charged with misdemeanor possession of oxycodone with intent to manufacture and misdemeanor possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture.
She was released after posting a $500 bond.
