SALISBURY ó A man told authorities a former schoolmate robbed him at gunpoint Sunday night in his front yard.
Channing Peoples told Rowan County Sheriffís Office deputies he was standing in the front yard of his Hawkins Loop home just before midnight when a man approached him with a silver pistol and ědemanded his money and his weed.î
Peoples told the man, who he later identified to authorities as Rennel Jeffery Parson, that he didnít have any money or marijuana, so the man took the Motorola Droid cell phone Peoples was holding and fled on foot.
Peoples told officers he recognized the man because he went to school with him. The report did not indicate where the two went to school.
Parson, 911 North Church St., has not been arrested.
An arrest warrant issued Monday indicates authorities will charge him with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon. The warrant valued the phone at $200.
