nLast week: Thomasville fell 34-26 to Southeast Guilford; Davie beat Lexington 28-20
nNext week: The Bulldogs, who have won eight state titles, go to High Point Central; Davie is at Hibriten
nGame notes: Both programs love to tackle challenging non-conference schedules, and they run headlong into each other tonight.
While Thomasville already has lost more games than it did all last season, itís not a typical 1-3 team.
Running back Shaquan Johnson , a former receiver, has been the workhorse for the Bulldogs. Heís carried 96 times the past three weeks for 612 yards.
Sophomore Shakeem Peterson did well at quarterback last week, with 9-for-14 passing for 147 yards.
While Davie gave up 40-plus points in each of the first two weeks, it has gotten some things straightened out defensively.
Offensively, the War Eagles are a potent team. Adam Smith has thrown for 778 yards and five TDs, while finding a host of receivers. Basketball standout Nate Jones leads the receiving corps with 277 yards. Ja-Rae Peebles, Mitch Miller, Jonathan Wiseman, T.J. Jones and Cameron Heaggans have all had their moments.
Stephon Smoot and Russell Anthony have combined for 471 rushing yards.
Give 4A Davie a slight edge over its 2A foe at home, but it should be close. Thomasville is always capable of knocking off bigger schools.
