Lanes of I-85 closing tonight near Kannapolis
Published 12:00 am Wednesday, September 14, 2011
The N.C. Department of Transportation will be closing I-85 South intermittently near Kannapolis Parkway (Exit 54) from midnight until 5 a.m. Thursday, weather permitting.
The closures are necessary for crews to set girders for the temporary work bridge associated with the I-85 widening project. Engineers anticipate closing the interstate up to five times for 30 minute intervals during the night. Rolling road blocks will be used to keep traffic away from the work zone during the closures.
Crews will also close the right lane on I-85 North across from the work zone, and the ramp from Kannapolis Parkway to I-85 South.
