Carolina Artists Expo 2011 results

The Carolina Artists held its annual art competition, exhibition and sale —Expo 2011 — Aug. 24 – 26 at the Salisbury Civic Center. More than 40 artists participated and over $800 in prizes was awarded. This year’s winners were:
Oils and acrylics:
1st, Tamiko Patterson
2nd, tie between Carolyn Blackman and James Taylor
3rd , tie between Beth Marie Steelman and Hal Ervin
Honorable mentions to Jo Ann Smith, Gerry Webster, and Tamiko Patterson
Watercolor:
1st, Lori McAdams
2nd, Janet Isenhour
3rd, tie between Colleen Walton and Karen Morgan
Honorable mention to Catherine Soderberg
Other paper / collage / mixed media:

2nd, Dalinda Hodgson

The People’s Choice Award, decided by the highest number of votes submitted by EXPO participants, went to James Taylor for “Zeus – god dog.”
Salisbury native Jennifer Gardner Selby, an art instructor at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, judged the competition.
The Carolina Artists was formed in 1990 by working artists to provide opportunities for local artists to be recognized within the central Carolina community. The group meets monthly. For more information, go ot www.thecarolinaartists.org for more information.
