CHINA GROVE — A routine traffic stop led authorities to drug charges for a Kannapolis woman early Monday morning.
According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report, Karen A. Morgan, 22, was arrested after deputies said she was carrying 10 oxycodone tablets and six Klonopin tablets in an empty cigarette pack in a compartment of the vehicle’s passenger seat.
The report said Deputy McHone initially pulled the white 1997 Ford Explorer over at the intersection of Lillian Street and East Thom Street after it crossed the center line.
The driver of the SUV, along with Morgan and her brother, told McHone that the vehicle’s alignment was off, the report said.
McHone asked to search the vehicle and, according to the report, Morgan admitted the narcotics were hers after they were discovered.
Morgan, of 1009 E. 11th St., was charged with felony possession with intent to sell, manufacture and deliver oxycodone, and felony possession with intent to sell, manufacture and deliver Klonopin.
She was given a $1,500 bond. She was released after posting bond.
