Report: Break-in at Gold Hill Tobacco Shop

GOLD HILL — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported burglary at a tobacco shop.
Gold Hill Tobacco Shop, 13955 N.C. 52, reported a break-in occurred sometime Tuesday or Wednesday. The back door to the business, which had been nailed shut and sealed with paint, was pried open, according to Taclissa Mills, who filed the report.
$634.59 worth of tobacco water pipes, scales and cigarette paper were reported stolen.
Mills also reported the thief had tried to remove the air conditioning unit.
Capt. John Sifford of the Sheriff’s Office said there were no surveillance cameras at the store.
The incident is still under investigation.
