SALISBURY—A Sherill’s Ford man was arrested this morning after calls about reckless driving led police to drugs, a meat cleaver and a sawed-off shotgun.
According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report, Jonathan Keck, 36, was stopped by deputies near exit 71 on north I-85.
The report said Keck gave consent to a search of the gray 2008 Toyota Scion.
Authorities found about .14 ounces of marijuana, a meat cleaver and a sawed-off shotgun. Deputies also found several items of drug paraphernalia. The single-barrel shotgun is considered a weapon of mass destruction because it was altered.
He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, drug paraphernalia and simple possession of marijuana.
He was given a $5,000 bond.
