SALISBURY, N.C.–Rowan Regional Medical Center is among only 28 hospitals nationwide to be awarded the 2011 Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence from VHA Inc. Each year, the VHA, a national healthcare network, identifies organizations that have differentiated themselves by demonstrating extraordinary levels of performance in clinical excellence. The winners were selected from more than 1,300 hospitals and more 30,000 non-acute care providers nationwide that are served by VHA.
“Receiving this award, which nationally recognizes our hospital’s clinical strength and dedication to patient satisfaction, would not be possible without the strong commitment to excellence our physicians, nurses and support staff demonstrate day in and day out”, said Dari Caldwell, president of Rowan Regional Medical Center. “An award such as this one helps validate our effort to provide remarkable service to all who entrust their care to us,” she continued.
The VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence recognizes hospitals that achieve top performance on clinical core measures established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicare & Medicaid Services and in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Health Providers and Services (HCAHPS) survey that measures patient satisfaction at hospitals across the country. This recognition is based on performance in the areas of acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care improvement.
“The VHA Leadership for Clinical Excellence recognizes hospitals that have worked to provide consistently high levels of clinical care for their patients and that emphasize the importance of improving the patient experience,” says Trent Haywood, M.D., J.D., chief medical officer at VHA.
