Salisbury man faces multiple drug charges
SPENCER — A Salisbury man was arrested on multiple drug charges after he consented to a vehicle search during a license checkpoint.
Martin Jamaal Blair, 28, of 208 Forest Winds Drive, was charged with maintaining a vehicle for selling and delivering a controlled substance, possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked.
According to reports, Blair drove up to the checkpoint, located at the intersection of Fifth Street and Whitehead Avenue, on Tuesday around 2:30 p.m. and was asked for his license.
Rowan County Sheriff’s Sgt. W.D. Smith said he noticed an odor of marijuana on the driver. Smith asked the driver to pull off to the side and asked to search the vehicle.
The officer found a plastic bag containing what appeared to be a crack rock. The officer found digital scales in the center console, marijuana in the ashtray and plastic baggies in the backseat under a jacket, said Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford.
Blair remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.
