Appliances are becoming hot items for thieves these days.
Oscar Lewis Bost, 74, reported a white stove stolen from his home on Pearl Street shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Salisbury Police Lt. Shelia Lingle said the back door of the home, which is under some construction, was pried open.
The brand of the stove is unknown. It was valued at $450.
Niven Bayer, 45, reported a similar incident at a home on Monroe Street about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Lingle said a refrigerator with a freezer on the bottom, valued at $500, was stolen from the unoccupied home, which is currently for sale.
Salisbury Police are investigating both incidents.
Lingle said these types of thefts are becoming more common.
“People are stealing this kind of stuff to sell to metal places,” she said.
