A West Rowan High School student was arrested Saturday following an investigation into missing storm grates from Mooresville.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, storm grates went missing in neighborhoods across Mooresville, and the Mooresville Police Department began investigating.
After a call to C&T Recycling in Mt. Ulla, police found the stolen grates, which the recycling company said were brought in by Nick Mulligan of Rowan County. Police took pictures of the grates and then called Mulligan for an interview.
The number of the stolen storm grates matched the number of the grates recovered, and enough evidence was presented to a Rowan County magistrate to charge Mulligan.
Mulligan, 19, was charged with felony obtaining property by false pretenses and he was released on a written promise to appear in court.
Mulligan received at least $80 from C&T Recycling for the grates.
