A man was stopped at gunpoint, beaten and robbed as he arrived at his home on Church Street Thursday night.
According to police reports, David Alexander McCluney, 31, was parking his car when a vehicle pulled up and a man holding a black pistol got out.
The report indicates that McCluney knew his assailant.
The man reportedly hit McCluney in the face with the gun, threw him to the ground and robbed him of an unspecified amount of money.
He was treated and released from Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Deputy Police Chief Rory Collins said an investigation is ongoing.
