KANNAPOLIS ó The Rowan County Department of Social Services is investigating why a 3-year-old girl was found by herself in a Kannapolis neighborhood Thursday morning.
The Kannapolis Police Department issued an alert Thursday morning looking for the girl’s family. An officer responded to the 700 block of Washington Lane at 10:30 a.m. and found the 3-year-old, who is about 3 feet tall, about 35 pounds and was wearing a pink top and blue jean skirt.
The little girl told an officer her name is Vera. Just after noon Thursday, Kannapolis officials said they had found the girl’s parent.
Later in the afternoon, the Police Department said the girl’s guardian had been found and the Rowan County Department of Social Services is investigating the incident.
