Base closure group works to attract newcomers
FAYETTEVILLE (AP) ó A North Carolina task force has held a relocation conference with personnel from two Army bases whose units will be moved from Georgia by 2011.
Under base realignment that was approved by Congress in 2005, the Army Reserve Command and Army Forces Command will be moved to Fort Bragg from Fort McPherson, Ga. The BRAC Regional Task Force held a two-day relocation fair this week in Georgia.
Task force official Paul Dordal said the fair was designed to make a good impression on military personnel and their families who will move to North Carolina.
Representatives from the 11 counties on the task force as well as state education and business agencies attended the meeting. A Fayetteville-area restaurant also catered a barbecue lunch for about 800 people.
